The Canadian Grand Prix first began in 1961, and was staged at Ontario’s Mosport Park and the Circuit Mont-Tremblant before finally settling on Montreal’s Circuit Ile Notre-Dame in 1978. The venue was later renamed in honor of racing legend Gilles Villeneuve following his death in 1982. The Canadian Grand Prix consists of 70 laps within the circuit, whose length is 2 709 miles, and has produced racing legends the likes of Michael Schumacher.
That’s the thing about the Canadian Grand Prix; rather than conform to the consistencies that seem to delegate the ebb and flow of our lifestyles, the Canadian Grand Prix relishes in uncertainty and unpredictability – and the result is quite refreshing. When the Formula 1 Grand Prix returns to Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve from June 5 – 7, the only plausible and sane thing to do is to expect the unexpected.
