From an early age, it was clear that Saul Hudson was destined for greatness. His mother was a costume designer for legendary musicians such as David Bowie, while his father produced album covers for icons like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. To escape the turmoil of his troubled childhood, Hudson took up the guitar, and eventually went so far as to practice for nearly twelve hours a day. Eventually, a family friend took notice of Hudson’s exceptional productivity and passionate dedication, and bestowed the moniker “Slash” upon the aspiring guitarist. After Saul Hudson became Slash, everything changed. To this day, Slash remains synonymous with Guns N’ Roses most profound and engaging masterpieces. Along with Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, and Steven Adler, Slash contributed to the recalcitrant behavior, incessant drug use, and unapologetic defiance that became the foundation of what many nicknamed “The Most Dangerous Band in the World”. As a member of Guns N’ Roses, Slash was one of the masterminds behind rock classics such as 1987’s Appetite for Destruction (which remains the highest-selling debut album of all time in the U.S.), as well as 1991’s twin albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. Moreover, Slash’s iconic guitar riffs are perceptible in some of the band’s most emblematic tunes, including “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Paradise City”, and, of course, “November Rain”. The Most Dangerous Band in the World is recognized as one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, and is credited with injecting popularity back into the spirit of rock music during a time when dance and pop music dominated the industry. Since his departure from Guns N’ Roses in1996, Slash has found success as a mainstream artists with the side project Slash’s Snakepit and the supergroup Velvet Revolver, the latter of which released hit albums such as 2004’s Contraband and 2007’s Libertad. In addition, the award-winning guitarist has been critically commended for his solo work. Now, you too can finally experience seeing a rock and roll god live in concert as Slash promotes his latest solo gem World on Fire at venues such as the Hamilton Place Theatre, Calgary’s Grey Eagle Resort, Edmonton’s Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, and Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
