The group’s polished sound is complete with memorable hooks and explosive choruses, and has earned them countless accolades and honours, including three Grammy Awards and three Billboard Music Awards.
The group’s success began in 2002 with the release of Songs About Jane. The band’s debut album was comprised of profound musings on the complexity of love. The album’s thought-provoking lyrics seamlessly intertwined with the rich musical elements, producing a glorious and heavenly symphony. Songs About Jane featured the smash singles “This Love” and “She Will Be Loved”, and peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 chart.
The band replicated their immense prosperity with 2007’s It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. The band’s second effort included the singles “Makes Me Wonder” and “Wake Up Call”, and was notable for the introduction of synthesizers and retro elements into the band’s sound. The album took the top spot of the Billboard 200.
In 2010, Maroon 5 returned with Hands All Over, which featured the singles “Misery” and “Never Gonna Leave This Bed”. The album was not popular among critics, and failed to reach the same level of success as the band’s previous efforts. However, that all changed when the album was re-released in 2011. The re-released version included the international hit “Moves Like Jagger”. The single, which featured Christina Aguilera, was a mega-smash; it reached number one on the Hot 100 chart, as well as sold over 14 million copies worldwide. It is considered to be one of the best-selling singles in history.
Maroon 5 continued the dance vibe and electropop sounds of “Moves Like Jagger” for the next chapter in their discography, 2012’s Overexposed. The musically colorfully album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart.
In 2014, Adam Levine and company released their fifth album, the appropriately-titled V. Featuring the singles “Maps” and “Animals”, V has quickly become a critical and commercial success, and is one of the most impressive inclusion in the band’s repertoire.
