Founded in 1984 in Toronto, Blue Rodeo have experienced multiple lineup changes over the year. However, the founding trio of Jim Cuddy (guitar/vocals), Greg Keelor (guitar/vocals), and Bazil Donovan (bass) has always remained the same. The band possesses an extensive discography; Blue Rodeo has released fourteen full-length studio albums, a greatest hits package, and several live recordings. Highlights of this impressive discography include 1989’s Diamond Mine, 1992’s Lost Together, and 1993’s six-time platinum Five Days in July. Known for smash hits such as “Hasn’t Hit Me Yet”, “Try”, and “Til I Am Myself Again”, Blue Rodeo are one of the most enduring and popular bands to have emerged from the Canadian music scene.
The band has taken home a plethora of awards, honours, and accolades. Blue Rodeo have won twelve JUNO Awards, and have earned a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. Moreover, the group has received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, which is Canada’s highest honour in the performing arts. In 2012, the members of Blue Rodeo were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, thereby joining the ranks of legendary artists such as Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Shania Twain. Finally, Cudy and Keelor have also been made Officers of the Order of Canada.
