When it comes to the Festival City, it’s go big or go home! Aside from being home to Canada’s largest living history museum, Edmonton is also the location of the West Edmonton Mall. Acknowledged as the largest shopping mall in North America, the West Edmonton Mall is comprised of various recreations, including over 800 stores, an indoor ice rink, a waterpark, a cinema, an indoor amusement park.

Other iconic destinations that Edmonton has to offer include the Muttart Conservatory, which consists of four astonishing pyramids that showcase the world’s plant life via luscious gardens. Another popular destination in the vibrant city is the Edmonton Valley Zoo, which is home to the exotic, the native, and the endangered.

Naturally, they don’t call it the Festival City for nothing! Winter or summer, day or night, rain or shine; there’s always some celebration occurring on the stunning streets of Edmonton. Major festivals include the famous K-Days, the Sourdough Raft Races, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, the Free Will Shakespeare Festival, and the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, the largest fringe theatre festival in North America.

As for sports, Edmonton has multiple professional and respected sports teams, such as the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (who participate in an intense rivalry with the Calgary Flames known as the Battle of Alberta), FC Edmonton of the North American Soccer League, and the Edmonton Energy of the International Basketball League. As for the National Hockey League, the Edmonton Oilers proudly represent the great city.  Notable arenas include the Commonwealth Stadium, the Clarke Stadium, and the Rexall Place, which will soon host artists such as Lady Gaga, Black Sabbath, Katy Perry, and Arcade Fire. A new and exciting arena, the Rogers Place, is currently in development, and will be primarily utilized for ice hockey and music concerts.
