Bono is on the mend and expects to be back on tour soon.  Live Nation has announced the new concert dates of the U2 360 tour. For our many Montreal fans, the new dates are Friday, July 8th and Saturday, July 9th, 2011.  Tickets originally purchased for the July 16, 2010 date may use those tickets for the July 8th show while those purchased for the July 17, 2010 show may use them for the July 9, 2011 show.

QualityPlusTickets.com will soon have more tickets available for both shows.

Caught the show last Friday evening (July 9th) at Club Soda. I’ve been to the Nasty Shows now for over 15 years. I see some disturbing trends going on here. First, it’s getting to be very pricey compared to what you get in return. I remember my first few Nasty shows were priced around $15.00 . Now we can expect to pay $46.00 .Secondly, you are getting fewer comedians. Today’s show has a total of 5 including the host of the show. Back then you had 7 to 8 comics. Thirdly, and this is what really bothers me the most. The Nasty “content” is pushing things way too far. Pedophilia , drinking blood from a woman’s vagina during menstruation , farting in a little baby’s face .Oh, and how about masterbation ? Very figuratively speaking, of course . Don’t get me wrong; I love nastiness . I am no prude by any stretch. But c’mon ! The Nasty Show can, and should be a whole lot better. Hey Just For Laughs ; with all the cash you’re getting from the tax payers how about setting a better example for our society as a whole ?Stop going deep down into the gutters desparately hoping to get a good laugh . On a positive note: the Steve Martin gala is going to be the best show of the festival . Kudos to the organizers on this one !

Musical!, Exciting!,Romance!,Visually extraordinary! And Athletic!

Bravo to Totem!!!! Cirque du Soleil

Every year in Montreal the best comedians from around the world converge in to our city to make us laugh . Almost every venue in the city will be buzzing with a great variety of acts. Stand-up ,to sketch comedy, to improv. Small, medium and large size clubs will be hosting names such as “Steve Martin , John Pinette, Nasty Show hosts Greg Giraldo & Jim Norton ,Lewis Black, Pamela Anderson (what???), Cheech & Chong (got a joint man?), Tom Arnold(Roseanne),Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) ,and Bill Burr (the Colbert Report/The Daily Show) . Don’t miss this coming edition of the annual Just For Laughs festival 2010 . It will certainly take your mind off this sagging economy and all the other negative stuff in our lives.Like the legendary Don Rickles once said in one of his stand-up routines .GOD said to me last night …Laugh Jew ! Well, you know what I mean ……………………….

As you all may or may not know the Montreal Canadiens hockey club took 2 very important decisions this week. 1) Trading the best goalie in the playoffs, Yaro Halak, to the St. Louis Blues for 2  young unproven forwards “Lars Eller” and “Ian Schultz” . And, 2) Signing Tomas Plekanec to a 6 year 5.0 million per year contract. I’m sure most hockey fans, (me included), are perplexed & unhappy with these moves.Let’s start with a few reasons why.As far as the Halak trade goes; we understand the concept that the hockey club could not keep both goalies (Halak & Price) on the same team going forward. It would have been too expensive given the salary cap constraints. However, let’s be brutally honest here. Who was the better goalie for the team the last 2 years ? The answer is Halak .No question about that. His statistics both in the regular season & the playoffs speak in loud volumes. One can not dispute this. Price has shown consistent weakness in goal, along with unprofessional attitude both on & off the ice.It was Halak who was almost single-handedly responsible for the team making it to the playoffs 2 years in a row. Now 2) Plekanec deal. C’mon. He had 1 decent year with the team. In his final year of his contract we might add .But what real impact has he had with the team in the 2010 playoffs ? Where was he in the Pittsburgh & Philly series ? Invisible. Yeah. A final year of his tenure with the club, looking to get a new contract . Wouldn’t this alone get any professional player to play his heart & guts out ? Think about it. Sorry for being negative about our beloved team, but the hard facts speak for themselves. Have a nice day & a great summer everyone ! My sincerest best regards & luck to Les Canadiens in the next N.H.L. players draft coming this weekend in Los Angeles.

This weekend will be exciting to say the least. Friday , Saturday , & Sunday evenings the new Cirque  du Soleil show “Totem” is going on. Great tickets still available thru qualitytickets.ca . Also, the International Fireworks Display is happening at LaRonde amusement park . Montreal Alouettes play an exhibition game Saturday afternoon June 19th; 1 pm at McGill Stadium.  And, last ,but not least, “Rufus Wainwright” at St. Denis Theatre on Monday June 21 at 8 PM. Prime seating locations available for all of these shows. Hope you all have the best Summer of your lives !!!!!!

Have you ever heard of the early 70’s British progressive rock group “Gentle Giant” ? Well recently they had reincarnated,or reunited if you will, to a new group called “Three Friends” which is actually the name of their original Gentle Giant second studio album of 1972 . Their rock sound is unconventional, with many stops & starts, twists & turns in most of their songs. A little like “Steely Dan” but with less melody. Three Friends (Gentle Giant) is considered by many to be quite original and very musically talented (as evidenced by their live performance June 15th in Montreal).Their musical talents have not gone unnoticed by the likes of “David Bowie” ,and “T-Rex” . If you have never been exposed to this eclectic band then I would highly recommend “In A Glass House” which in my opinion defines this band to perfection. If you appreciate progressive rock and lust for originality(which is not very common these days) then go out and give these “friends” a look. I promise you will not be disappointed .Because, you know, it’s always nice to have friends; in this case….Three Friends.

As part of the Montreal International Jazz Festival Lou Reed ,ex Velvet Underground band guitarist-songwriter, and solo artist from 1975 to present day, will be performing live in concert at Place Des Arts (PDA). PDA is a relatively intimate venue (approx. 2500 capacity) known for its unbelievable acoustics.you can’t find a better place for performing in Montreal.I’ve been there for several shows and believe me it’s like listening to a state-of-the-art CD player in your living room.It is truly a worthwhile experience. Now, with Lou Reed & Laurie Anderson on the same stage, it promises  to be an extraordinary performance. Lou Reed, an icon in his own right. Inducted in to the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 is friends with, and has performed with “Peter Gabriel”,and “David Bowie”,and had a close relationship with “Andy Warhol”. He has recorded many big hit songs since the 70’s.”Take a Walk on The Wild Side, “Sweet Jane”,”Coney Island Baby”,”Sally Can’t Dance”,”Vicious”, to name but a few. The L.P.s which made him very popular are; “Transformer”, “Coney Island Baby”,and “Street Hassle”. My personal favourite is “Street Hassle”. As with most of his song writing, he talks of personal experiences dealing with sex, drugs, and humanity. He is also considered as a pioneer of guitar special effects,i.e., distortion, feedback. Perhaps one of his most memorable live concerts in Montreal would have to include the Hotel Nelson Éveché club in Old Montreal (Vieux Montréal) 1977 where he played to 2 sold out shows with a full band and back up soul singers to promote the “Street Hassle” tour. He has never cared for commercialism in his music. He tells it the way he sees it. Since 2007 his music has evolved into ambient, free rock meditation alongside with his newly married companion “Laurie Anderson” (2008).His new group called “Metal Machine Trio” has already played the “Lollapolooza” in Chicago in 2009 with new band mates on saxophone Ulrich Kreiger, and Sarth Calhoun on electronics. Don’t miss this rare perfomance by not 1, but 2 quite unusual legends of our time .Friday July 2nd in Montreal. See you there !

After undergoing Emergency back surgery, U2 frontman Bono was forced to postpone the North American leg of the 360 tour.

For now, local promoters are asking all ticket holders to hold onto their tickets until new dates are set.  The Montreal shows, scheduled to take place at the Hippodrome on July 16th and 17th are among those postponed. Evenko, the promoter behind the Montreal U2 shows, says the shows will still take place at the Hippodrome “sometime in 2011″ but for now the dates remain unkown.

As is the norm for QualityPlusTickets.com, we are following in the footsteps of the promoter, asking all clients to hold onto their tickets until the new dates are announced.  Previously purchased U2 tickets will be honoured on the new dates but those who need, will be re-imbursed the cost of their already purchased U2 tickets.

Check back often at www.qualityplustickets.com.  Further information will be posted as it becomes available.  You may also check our facebook page, QualityPlusTickets, where updates and special ticket prices for all events are posted regularly.

As a witness to this new show I can tell you that it was riveting & breathtaking. Of course, we saw vintage formulaic Cirque du Soleil trapeze acts , trampoline, perfectly shaped human bodies, both young and a little older. Smiles, outrageous colorful costumes, comic relief featuring an Elvis-like funny man speaking Italian , special lighting effects simulating water river streams, and of course, the little cute oriental girls on their uni-cycles throwing metal-like soup bowls from one head to another without missing a beat. Yes, fun for the whole family. Really. North American native Indian theme was very dominant thru the whole performance. What really struck me was the costumes & the chreography . Simply amazing. By the way, I was seated in the cat. 3 seats around $70 each. Well worth it ! Most of the performance was in the side/back of the stage. In other words, you do not need to spend a lot of dollars to enjoy the show. I would definitely go see this show again. Check it out soon !
